Knitting patterns/instructions to make a classic 1930s/1940s/WWII fair isle patterned jumper with round neck and short sleeves.

The instructions are written out in full, there's no chart.

  • Sizes: 34 inch bust, when knitted in 3 ply yarn.  You could use modern 4 ply yarn as it is similar in weight to 3 ply from the period the pattern was printed.  However you would need to knit a tension square and possibly adjust needle sizes to get the finished size you want.
  • Material requirements:  Amounts are for guidance only and will vary depending on size knitted and make of yarn used.
    • Approx  3 ounces (85 grams) in main back ground shade and between 3/4 ounce (22 grams) and 2 ounces (57 grams) of 5 contrasting shades for the pattern
    • Pair each of: No. 12 (2.75 mm) & No. 9 (3.75 mm) knitting needles.
  • 6 small buttons.

Please Note: This is a quality, cleaned and restored copy of the pattern for you to knit the item/s yourself. It is Not for the original pattern or the finished article/s.

The pattern is printed in A4 format on heavy weight paper with colour photos and charts where applicable.  It will be posted in a plastic sleeve and C4 envelope to protect it.

Due to the age of the pattern, the original yarn suggested may not be available.  It is recommended to knit a tension square with your chosen yarn, before starting, to ensure the finished garment or item is the size you require.

If you have any questions about the item please contact me.

I am listing other original and reformatted (out of copyright or copyright free) Knitting and Crochet patterns for sale and will combine postage on multiple patterns.

The pattern will be sent via royal mail 2nd class to keep costs down, and I get proof of postage.  Other than weekends I can usually post your pattern within 24 hours.  Whilst I make every effort to ensure the patterns are protected well for transit, should there be any issues with the pattern, please contact me to allow me to resolve them before leaving feedback.

Please note postage and packaging costs quoted are for mainland UK via myHermes or Royal Mail. Certain areas of Scotland and Ireland may unfortunately incur additional postage charges.  I am happy to search for the cheapest postage cost for delivery to non-standard service areas, please ask before bidding.
