This is a really striking style of Japanese Ink Painting called Sumi-e. I wanted to create a series of powerful female portraits that weren't your average traditional style of sumi-e, but a more contemporary "east meets west" representation. It really is a unique and contemporary piece of art.

The piece itself is produced on very thin, hand-made beige rice paper. I then mount it on a beautiful panel board and then paint over it with acrylic. The acrylic adds not only UV protection and a nice coat to refine it, but also adds texture as you can see each brush stroke to make it all the more unique.

These are great gifts and easy to ship. No glass to break, no glare, and very sturdy. The saw-tooth hanger can be removed if you want it flat on the wall, or you can even stand up on a desk or mantle piece. It measures 6x12" and weighs approximately 1lb. The sides of the panel are a raw and unfinished wood look. Very pretty!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or even special requests. I look forward to hearing from you!
