This is a repair kit containing a tube of Automotive Grade Black Silicone mastic type sealant, suitable for the repair and re-sealing of car roof aerial antenna bases where the original rubber gasket seal is missing, perished or deteriorated. It is supplied with 2 spatulas and 2 alcohol wipes along with guidance notes to facilitate the repair and enable the gap between the aerial base and the roof panel to be filled, shaped and re-sealed. Missing, damaged or failed gaskets is a common problem especially on many older cars where the gasket degrades because of the effects of UV sun-light, prolonged exposure to temperature extremes, or the use of some car care products, polishes and waxes etc. These can cause the original gasket to deteriorate, so the gasket looks unsightly, becomes brittle and fails. This can result in rainwater leaks causing damp problems, electrical faults and damage to roof linings and interior trim.
In our eBay shop we list three sizes of gasket suitable for many models but on many cars the correct size and shape of gasket is not available separately, especially those with larger bases and those where the roof aerial also incorporates DAB, GPS SatNav receivers. Although a common problem, vehicle manufactures, main dealers and aerial manufacturers rarely supply the gaskets separately.
With careful application this sealant is an inexpensive and effective way of both restoring the appearance and achieving a good water-tight seal.
The kit comprises;
Automotive grade Black Silicone waterproof sealant with adjustable tapered nozzle.
2 x 150 mm x 18 mm lolly-stick type spatulas.
2 x Alcohol pads for cleaning & surface preparation.
Written English instructions, guidance notes and HS data sheet.
(The tube is sufficient to do several bases, determined by the size of base)
