The RAF Regiment and its associated armoured cars have taken part in a great number of the campaigns and wars in which the arm has been asked to fight. Formed at the end of WWI from the RNAS Armoured Car Squadrons, the Regiment was to have a similar role of picking up downed pilots, protecting aircraft, airfields and installations as well as generally supporting the RAF squadrons.

Here one of the services most iconic cars, the Rolls Royce Armoured Car is seen with another classic, the Hawker Hart somewhere in the Western Desert around 1936
