Prior to leaving Egypt in 1839 David Roberts had an audience with Mohamed Ali. Roberts can be seen as the rightmost Englishman. It was at this meeting that the idea for the Suez Canal was first broached. Subscription edition, 1840s, approximately 14" x 20" image size, framed. This limited edition lithograph was hand colored and mounted on a 17" by 24", heavy stock paper. Very good condition.
