The spray is safe for direct spray and is in low odour and free from solvents. Our spray contains cypermethrin which is the highest allowable strength and will provide an effective guard against a wide range of carpet and flying/crawling household insects.
Protect your textiles and carpets against household carpet moth. The carpet moth larvae predominately feed on keratin found in natural fibres such as wool and can live in any textile, carpet or rug which has a wool content. If left untreated carpet moths will infest wardrobes, drawers and can cause unrepairable damage to often expensive clothing.
Frequently people will treat once, then can notice further activity 12 months later, this is because the carpet moth can take between 2 – 30 months for the larva to develop.
You will probably notice more activity in spring as the warmer weather will speed up development and numbers increase of these textile munching pests. Due to central heating reproduction and development can occur during the colder months as the level of humidity and heat can trigger development speeds which is not usually seen in the colder months.
Carpet Moths are smaller than the common household moth, they are buff coloured and rarely fly. Their forewings have 3 distinct dots and there hind wings are smaller and lighter coloured. You may notice small white cases; similar to grains of rice this is the cocoon that the moth hatches from.
If the weather is particularly warm, this whole cycle can take just 2 months. When treating carpet or household moths, it is important to retreat in order to break the cycle. We would strongly suggest that you treat at least twice if not three times during a two month period.
Please remember to vacuum before the treatment. Empty the contents from the hoover into a bin outside the house. Do do not vacuum again for at least 5-7 days. Further treatment is recommended to ensure all life cycles are killed.
