 Tsuko-Tegata is a kind of wooden passport that was used in the Edo Period as an identity card for travelers when passing from region to region. They had been sold a lot in Showa period as mingei type souvenirs all over Japan.
 
It's also a protector for safety and peace for family.
 
 
 
 
This tegata is not made of wood, it feels like plastic, you can put coins from the top and there is a cover on the bottom to open/close.
This is from Hokkaido with Ainu picture. This item had never been used.
 
 
 
 
Condition:
 
 
Never been used, very good for showa era/vintage item. Please also check the condition in the photos.
