THIS IS THE NIGHT MAIL- LMS/BR Duchess class locomotive by John Austin FGRA

Christmas sees a huge rise in the amount of post sent and in the 1950s and 1960s this meant extra work for the mail services of British Railways. Here we see a West Coast Mail express picking up water with Coronation Pacific 46238 City of Carlisle  at its head. In the carriages, Royal Mail workers sort and prepare mail for the various destinations.
