Naturally, results will vary depending on hair colour, hair type, the process, products used. We always recommend doing a strand test first. Directions semi-permanent hair colors contain no oxidants and are intended exclusively for hair coloring. Do not use for eyebrows or eyelashes! Must not be mixed with peroxide! The majority of shades require bleaching the hair first for a better effect. We recommend using the Direction-Hair Lightening Kit for bleaching. Darker colors can be applied on any hair shade to help you obtain vibrant colors or gently highlighted effects. Lighter colors are intended mostly for lighter hair, or hair that has already been bleached. Bleaching hair before applying these colors allows the color to penetrate deeper into the hair follicles, helping the color last longer. These colors allow the creation of unlimited shades and combinations, whatever you desire. It is recommended to lighten the hair by at least a few shades, ideally to bleach blonde for Spring Green, Lavender, Lilac, Pastel Pink, Carnation Pink, Flamingo Pink, Fluorescent Glow, White Toner, Silver, Wisteria, Stormy Grey, Slate, Ultra Violet, Deep Purple, Sunflower, Fluorescent Lime, Fluorescent Green, Antique Mauve, Peach, Pastel Rose, Pastel Blue, ... How to apply Directions
Please ensure you have performed your Strand and Skin Sensitivity tests beforehand. Shampoo the hair with a PH balanced shampoo (*Cough cough* - ours is great). Without boring you with the science, these shampoos help the hair achieve the best acid balance - which in turns helps Directions develop as well as it can. #2: Apply Directions with the aid of a tint brush. Comb Directions into the hair until it becomes frothy, ensuring the hair you are wanting to colour is entirely covered. #3: Your strand test results will determine your personal development time, but on average we advise to leave Directions to develop for 15-30 minutes. A plastic hair or shower cap will help retain some heat, helping the development. #4: Thoroughly rinse Directions out of the hair with warm water. Ideally, do your rinsing away from the face and body (not in the shower) - multi coloured skin was so last year. #5 Dry and style as usual and then of course take a picture and upload it to one of our competitions. None of the products featured on this website are tested on animals. The length of time which Directions semi-permanent hair colour stays vibrant in your hair will vary depending on your hair type and condition. As all hair types are different we cannot give any longevity to the colour. Due to the nature of the product some colours may leave a permanent stain on blonde or bleached hair. None of Directions semi-permanent hair colours will lighten your natural hair colour as they do not contain any peroxide or ammonia. If you would like to achieve a bright vibrant colour we recommend that you pre-lighten your hair using a bleach based product. Do NOT mix peroxide with these hair dyes. If you do not wish to pre-lighten your hair, darker hair will achieve a subtle tone or hue, not the intense shades as represented on our colour charts – these are based on blonde or pre-lightened hair.
