Vtg Slide Projector Invention Prototype VUAID L/C-2 Bradfield Bidwell Rare Pair
Because one vintage projector has no manufacturer's Mark, I believe it may be a Prototype. I purchased a similar one - A manufactured/production piece...but the first one may be a one-of-a-kind. I now offer both of them for sale as a set.
VUAID L/C-2 is quite similar in shape and size as the one I believe is its prototype. It did not come with a slide tray, but the slide tray from the "prototype" does fit!
I did test it, and the light does come on. There is no blower in this one; it's very primitive. The insulation on the wires is dry-rotted and will need to be replaced if you're planning to use this. But of course, for historical value as ND display, I guess you could keep it as is. The plug is marked "Electrix" with a number 33 above. This amazing piece of history is being sold as is. I think you will be quite impressed.
Another interesting feature is the way the bulb is attached in the prototype. A piece of wood (an effective insulator for low-voltage) literally separates the bulb from the machine. Very primitive, very basic... but it works. This may have been made in somebody's workshop. I do not know. If it is the prototype, then it would be the LC-1. I guess. The lens housing also appears to be made of brass. The shape of the bracket that holds the lens in place is also a very basic version of the LC 2.
The slides for this would measure 2" x 2" as well. The slide tray does show signs of rust. But look at it carefully; it too looks home made.
Look at the photographs of the edges, so you can see what I mean. Much of this is conjecture. Based on good observation and interpretive thinking. But I am no expert on slide projectors, or anything else for that matter. I'm simply here to try to find a home for something that's very, very unusual.
And, to that end, I purchased the LC 2; I believe this is one of the most unusual discoveries on eBay because you will have in your hands - when you buy this pair - an early projector together with its prototype.
The newer version, the LC-2, does power up as far as the light is concerned. Both lenses adjust the same way - by simply pulling the tube in and out of the housing. The prototype has an on/off switch. The L/C 2 does not. The plug on the newer Projector is marked HALO with USA beneath it. See photographs. All items sold "as is."
