Condition:
Vintage pre-owned condition with age-related wear, surface dryness, discoloration and areas of abrasion consistent with an older working rawhide reata. Honda and end construction remain present. Please examine all photographs carefully. This is being sold as a collectible/display piece; its suitability for actual roping has not been tested.
Description:
Offered is an impressive vintage hand-braided rawhide reata measuring just over 43 feet long.
This is a traditional Western working reata constructed from narrow hand-cut rawhide strands in a four-strand braid, with an original-style rawhide honda and hand-tied finishing work.
The natural light rawhide has developed attractive variation in color and patina from age and use. The hand workmanship is readily apparent throughout the braid, with the slight variations expected from a handmade piece rather than modern manufactured rope.
Details:
* Length: approximately 43+ feet
* Material: Rawhide
* Construction: Hand braided
* Approximately four-strand/plait construction
* Traditional rawhide honda
* Natural light/tan coloration
* Unmarked — no maker’s mark found
* Vintage Western ranch/cowboy tack
The reata shows genuine use and age, including dryness, surface wear, discoloration, abrasion and wear around the rawhide ends and honda. It has not been cleaned, oiled, conditioned or restored.
Because of its age and unknown history, I am selling this as collectible Western Americana rather than warranting it for working livestock use.
An excellent display piece for a Western collection, ranch, tack room, cowboy memorabilia collection or vaquero/California horsemanship collection.
Please use the photographs as an important part of the description and condition assessment.
