A beautiful and very special gift for a book lover and lover of old things: This is an antique sterling, vibrant textured blue guilloche and celluloid 4-inch long pocket bookmark from the early 20th-century, truly a luxury desk accessory.
Back marked 935S grade — note; the stamp "935S" signifies a silver purity of 93.5%. This grade is slightly higher than standard sterling silver (which is 92.5% or 925). This specific 935S purity stamp was commonly used in Scandinavia/Continental Europe during the late 19th to early 20th centuries.
This piece is in excellent condition for 100 years old. Silver back could use a bit more cleaning if you wish to.
I acquired this as a child in 1960 from a well known midwestern antique auctioneer relative. Sweet item! Ready for a new desk!
