This set of 4 vintage Merchant Navy brass buttons by J R Gaunt London features a naval crown design.
Likely era 1940's to 1960's, during and shortly after WW2, two-piece mounted buttons (where the silver crown is a separate piece stamped and crimped or soldered onto a brass dome) were very popular among private military outfitters like J R Gaunt. The crisp relief detailing on the silver crown strongly reflect the quality of this mid-century period.
