🖱️🍎💾 RARE 1985 Graphic Mouse Operations Manual – Apple II / IIe Vintage Computing

An incredible survivor from the pioneering days of personal computing! This is an original vintage Graphic Mouse Operations Manual, produced for the unusual Graphic Mouse system used with the Apple II / Apple IIe generation of computers.

This is not an ordinary generic mouse booklet. Research identifies the Graphic Mouse as a circa-1985 Contriver Enterprise Co. design made for the Apple II platform. Period documentation shows the Graphic Mouse system being marketed during the mid-1980s, including a 1986 Apple User advertisement offering the Graphic Mouse + Software for £59. The hardware itself has become an interesting piece of early computer-mouse history.

The manual is especially interesting because it documents what this early mouse system could actually do. Inside are instructions and illustrations covering connection through the Apple computer’s Game Port, loading the Graphic Mouse diskette, mouse setup, the Graphic Mouse Menu, Mouse Grapher, Shape Designer, Super Sketcher and Format Data Disk, along with drawing commands, picture loading, shape tables, color fillers and other early computer-graphics functions.

This came from the remarkable estate of one of Rolls-Royce’s top engineers, whose enormous collection contained millions of dollars’ worth of technology, collectibles and unusual pieces acquired over many years. This estate has produced items originating from around the world, including Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Pakistan, with many pieces that were uncommon or never routinely marketed in the United States.

For a serious Apple II, Apple IIe, vintage computer, early mouse, computer graphics or retro technology collector, documentation like this can be particularly difficult to replace once separated from the original hardware. Complete Graphic Mouse systems themselves are documented in vintage-computing collections today, making surviving original paperwork an interesting companion piece for anyone who already owns the hardware.

This sale is for the OPERATIONS MANUAL ONLY exactly as photographed. No mouse, software disk, computer, cables or other hardware are included.

The manual remains in very good vintage condition considering its age, but it is absolutely not mint. The photographs show age-related handling and storage wear, including creasing, edge and corner wear, some surface marks/spotting, a tear/crease along the lower portion of the rear cover, and wear around the spine/staples. The interior pages shown remain quite clean and readable. Please use the photographs as the definitive guide to condition because this is an approximately 40-year-old piece of computer documentation being sold exactly as shown.

Please carefully examine ALL photographs before purchasing. The photos are an important part of the description and show the actual manual you will receive. If you have any questions whatsoever, please message me anytime before purchasing.
