Vintage Hornsea Smarties Mug

Vintage Hornsea Pottery Smarties promotional mug, produced exclusively for Smarties.

A distinctive piece of British advertising and confectionery memorabilia, featuring the classic Smarties branding surrounded by brightly coloured sweets against a dark brown background. The interior, handle and base are finished in the same brown glaze.

The underside is clearly backstamped:

“Hornsea – Exclusively Designed for Smarties”

This is an original promotional Hornsea piece dating from approximately the 1980s, making it an interesting crossover collectible for Hornsea pottery, vintage advertising and confectionery memorabilia collectors.

Condition:

Used vintage condition. There are signs of age and previous use, including surface wear. There is a small area of loss/damage to the printed decoration on one of the red Smarties, clearly shown in the close-up photograph. No major chips or cracks are apparent from inspection.
