A Rare, Solid, and Authentic TWR Project for the Serious Enthusiast.
This is an unmissable opportunity to acquire a legendary, hand-assembled Jaguar XJR-S 5.3 V12 with the highly desirable benefit of being a Japanese import. It was originally produced for Germany, hence being left-hand drive, and later made its way to Japan. Thanks to Japan's salt-free winter roads and climate, the critical structural areas underneath are remarkably well-preserved. If you are looking for a structurally honest, low-mileage V12 masterpiece to restore to its former glory, this is the perfect canvas. It has only covered 31,000 km.
Being one of the very early TWR XJRs produced, it still carries the 5.3 V12. The first 326 cars were produced with this engine before they introduced the 6.0L version, making a total of 1,130 units. This has been certified by the Jaguar Heritage Trust and can be seen in the pictures.
We have owned the car for around 10 years with all the best intentions of bringing it back to its former glory. However, with various other projects going on, we just don't have the time to complete it, which is the reason for the sale. It came into the workshop and had various bits done to get it up, running, and through an MOT to apply for its paperwork, so some money has already been spent on it. This includes new calipers front and rear, discs and pads all round, and a service including oil, air filter, and spark plug changes. We put standard XJS wheels on it to get it through the MOT, but it can potentially come with a set of its original Speedline wheels (which will require new tyres all round). Being an import, the car is still in KM, so you would need to convert it to MPH if you wish to do so.
Unlike local examples that suffer from severe structural rot, the underneath of this vehicle is completely solid. The floor pans, sills, and subframes are in great shape. The engine starts and runs, but it will require mechanical fettling to get it running 100%. After being stored for a number of years, the fluids and fuel lines will need a thorough recommissioning to get that 318 bhp TWR V12 singing properly again.
The paintwork needs attention due to typical Japanese sun-fade and lacquer peel. There are cosmetic blemishes that require preparation and a high-quality, glass-out respray to do the car justice. It is a completely honest car—what you see is what you get, with no hidden nasty surprises or filler hiding structural issues.
Because it is being sold as a project car, there is, of course, no warranty given or implied. Viewings are welcome and highly recommended. The car is on-site, but viewings will need to be arranged in advance. I am happy to answer any questions, so please give me a call to discuss any of these points.
The car will need to be trailered away. We can arrange delivery at an additional cost, provided the car has been paid for in advance.
Happy bidding!
