Promotional Banner / Streamer

Up for auction is a vintage promotional hanging banner or streamer, used to promote the "Exhibition of Archaeological Finds of the People's Republic of China", hosted by The National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., in 1974-75.  The long, narrow banner appears to be vinyl-coated paper, measures approximately 4 by 34 inches in size, and has white Chinese calligraphy printed in the traditional vertical scroll format with white brush-style characters, all set against a red/orange background.  The print translates to:  "Exhibition of Archaeological Finds of the People's Republic of China".

The streamer has never been removed from its original plastic packaging, and as such, is in great vintage condition.  However, when originally purchased the packaging for the streamer was round/tubular in shape, and since then has been somewhat flattened, likely resulting in creasing to the piece.  Most of the photographs were taken of an identical, second, opened streamer, in order to show the printed image, as well as the repeated pattern of creases from that one also having been flattened.  Please note that this auction is for the unopened streamer only, which is still in its original plastic packaging, and would have no soiling on the reverse side.
