For your consideration is this very collectible DRESSEL ARLINGTON N.J. railroad lantern that came to us from my husband's grandfather who passed away in 1979. He worked for the DNE (Duluth North Eastern) Railroad from 1906 to 1956. Sometime during those 50 years, he acquired this railroad lantern with three glass globes (red, yellow & blue) and 2 extra cotton wicks.
I wish I could tell you more about this item, but this information has been lost to time! I've included a lot of photos and would be happy to include more, if desired.
From what I can see, the globes all have some sort of mark on them (see pics) and the blue one has an original label that is unreadable. There is a toggle under the rim of the lamp that unlocks the top and allows globes to be changed and new wicks added. None of the wicks show signs of use, but the red globe does appear to have some smoke staining on the inside. I have also discovered a scratch on the top of the lantern (see pic) and some scattered minor corrosion (rust)?
The height of the lantern is approx 9.5". With the lantern handle fully upright, the measurement is approx 15".
The lantern has been packed away for years and I'm selling it as I've found it....a bit dusty with some grime on the blue globe.
