Description
Antique pressed brass case padlock
Iron shackle and original flat steel key
Works fine with a strong pop up shackle
Front:
Greek key pattern on the keyhole side and stamped '379'
Reverse:
Raised Retriever head and marked 'Made in England Pat Pending'
The patent number is not shown on the padlock
(as the case construction patent was pending and had not yet been issued a number)
However this patent design was applied for in 1926 and granted in 1927 to:
Frederick William Pinson of Willenhall under patent 267348 (GB267348A)
Approximately (+/- 0.3mm):
52.2mm tall x 37.7mm width x 11mm (maximum) thickness
4.8mm shackle width
10mm shackle clearance
40g in weight including the key
