Original Criterion Theatre Playbill programme from 1970 for David Mercer’s Flint, an excellent piece of post-war British theatre ephemera with a particularly impressive cast. The production starred Michael Hordern in the title role alongside Julia Foster, Vivien Merchant, Moira Redmond, James Grout, John Leeson, Nicholas Clay and others, directed by Christopher Morahan. It first opened at the Criterion Theatre, London, on 5 May 1970. The wonderfully bold orange, yellow and white cover makes this an especially attractive programme, while the cast gives it appeal beyond theatre collectors — particularly for admirers of Michael Hordern and British stage and screen history. This came from my late Grandma’s large collection of theatre programmes, gathered over many years of theatre-going. Pieces like this are lovely survivors of an era when a West End programme really captured the production as it was being performed. An excellent addition to a collection of 1970s London theatre, Criterion Theatre memorabilia, David Mercer, Michael Hordern or vintage theatrical ephemera. Condition Vintage used condition with age-related handling and wear. There is handwritten notation/date on the front cover, visible in the photographs. Interior appears well preserved overall. Please use the photographs as part of the condition description.
❤️ Own a Little Piece of History ❤️ Thank you for taking a look at this item. Every piece I sell comes from my late grandmother's remarkable lifetime collection, built over more than 70 years. She began her career as an air hostess during the 1940s and 1950s, travelling the world and bringing home unusual treasures from every destination. Along the way she fell in love with my grandfather, a Swissair pilot, and together they shared a lifelong passion for collecting history, art, antiques and memorabilia. In the 1960s she opened her own antiques business, a passion she continued until retiring at the incredible age of 92. She believed every object had a story worth preserving, whether it was a theatre programme, football programme, book, magazine or antique collected during her lifetime. Today, I'm carefully cataloguing and rehoming her collection, ensuring each piece finds someone who will appreciate it for many years to come. If you enjoy items with genuine history and provenance, please browse my other listings. New treasures are added every day, and every purchase helps keep my grandmother's extraordinary collection alive for future generations. Thank you so much for visiting The Antique Asylum. I hope you find something that speaks to you. 💛
