Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer for sale following a deep Soundgas service and some amazing mods (inc Tubbutec Midi).
This unit had led a full life when it came to us in part exchange. It's not as pretty as we'd usually sell (inside or out) but it's cleaned up well. Photos do not show the midi mod as it was installed after these were taken.
It's been given a full suite of mods similar to the last 808 we had that Tony fell in love with including the kick decay extension that is speaker-rippingly good. There are voice tweaks along the left hand cheek which take it well beyond what a regular 808 can do. This is a serious player's 808.
It has a full suite of mods very similar to a Bruce Forat-modded 808 we had that Tony fell in love with. The controls are neatly laid out along the left end cheek and are perfectly positioned for live jams.
The extension of the kick decay together with the bass drum tuning mod can yield serious 808 bass lines. This along with the other voice tweaks (see photos for details) take it well beyond what a stock 808 can do.
In addition, the Tubbutec mod allows you to trigger six (!) additional sounds via MIDI: 2 kicks - a deep clicky 808ish kick & a higher pitched kick - plus snare noise, tom noise, and two cymbal derived parts (attack and decay portions separately).
This is a serious beat creator’s machine that takes the already stellar original and extends the sound palette and sonic possibilities way beyond a regular 808.

It was not pretty inside either but we've done our best to tidy things up and it's now working as it should (and beyond) and sounding really special.

Condition: In good condition despite being rather roadworn. There are visible marks and wear across the whole unit and some very minor oxidation. Some of the knobs are damaged and have had replacement coloured caps. Please see photos or get in touch if you require more information.
