Two hardcover volumes. Ex library books with stamps. Both with dust jackets protected by cellophane wrap but a little worn - Vol 2 has wear and tears to bottom edge of dj. Both volumes have blue cloth boards, showing shelfwear. Text blocks are solid with faded pink to top edge. Pages are bright. Vol 1 has some creasing to some text pages that look consistent with original book rather than with use. Large format 29 x 23cm. Vol 1: 117 pp text. Vol 2: 279pp text. Both volumes have over 50 engravings at the end of the books. 

First published in 1842. Joseph Strutt was a pioneer in English Costume. Both volumes cover the "Dress and Habits of the People of England from Saxon to the Present Time". Illustrated with engravings which were taken "from the most authentic remains of antiquity".
