I am selling my much loved Mk1 Golf GL Cabriolet. I have owned this car since 2008 and started a restoration in 2022, which unfortunately I can't complete. I am now hoping that it will find a good home with someone who can give it the care and attention it deserves. There are not many GLs (Grand Luxe) models around now, as most special editions from this time were Clippers or GTIs.
Up until 2022 the car was driving well. It tended to pass MOTs first time or with small amounts of work. The most major change I made was fitting a manual choke, which solved the problem of it being tricky to start on a cold morning. Since 2022 it has been SORN and hasn't been run.
As you can see in the photos, the car has had a respray but is in pieces. To my knowledge, all parts are there and I have laid them out for you to see. It now needs a new roof and new windscreen. It was previously parked outside but has been stored indoors for the last year. It is not currently running so will need transportation.
