Stowa Flieger Classic 40 mechanical hand-wound watch featuring the traditional German pilot-watch design in the especially clean no-logo, no-date configuration. The included Stowa paperwork identifies this watch as a “Flieger Classic 40 Without date / Without Logo Hand wound” and is dated October 2023.
The matte black Type A Flieger dial is exceptionally clean and purposeful, with bold white Arabic numerals, a highly legible minute track, and the distinctive orientation triangle at 12 o’clock. The absence of both a dial logo and date window gives the watch the historically inspired, uncluttered appearance sought after by enthusiasts of traditional pilot watches.
The brushed stainless steel case measures 40 mm and is fitted with the characteristic oversized fluted crown associated with Flieger watches. Sapphire crystal protects the dial, while the rear exhibition caseback provides a clear view of the mechanical hand-wound Stowa movement. The caseback is marked “Sapphire Crystal,” “Stainless Steel,” “Waterproof 5 ATM,” “Made in Germany,” “Stowa Since 1927,” and “Flieger Handwinding.”
The watch is fitted with a genuine Stowa tan brown leather pilot-style strap featuring traditional double rivets near the lugs and a signed Stowa buckle. The strap is marked 20 mm. An additional black leather strap with buckle is also included.
This is a particularly attractive complete presentation package. It includes the Stowa “Made in the Black Forest” presentation box, Stowa guarantee booklet, dated model documentation, the fitted tan leather strap, and the additional black leather strap.
CONDITION:
The watch is in beautiful new open box condition. The stainless steel case, black dial, crystal, crown, and exhibition back present exceptionally well, and the watch is currently running properly.
The tan Stowa leather strap is also exceptionally clean, with the rivets, stitching, keepers, and signed buckle presenting very well. The additional black strap, Stowa presentation box, guarantee booklet, and accompanying paperwork are included and remain clean and well preserved.
