This vintage heavy-duty cast iron utility hook features an integrated spike, double prongs with very unique ends. Historically, these were used as a harness, tack, or coat rack hooks. In this case, these were used as coat rack hooks and salvaged from an 1890s Chicago home.

The hooks are cast iron with an antique, weathered patina typical of late 19th or very early 20th century architectural hardware.

Features a long upper arm (3 1/8") is great for coats and a shorter lower peg (1 1/4") is great for keys or umbrellas. Both hooks are finished with rounded saucer finials, mounted to a decorative designed backplate with a mounting tip and screw or nail mounting hole (3/16-1/4").

Overall, the hooks are in good condition considering that they are utilitarian items that have survived more than 125 years. The hooks were originally coated with a bronze finish. Some remnants of the finish remain, particularly in the areas where the hooks were largely unused - like the underside of the prongs and the wall back plate.
