This porcelain handled cake plate was made by Philip Rosenthal & Co of Bavaria in their Monbijou shape and design. The green backstamp dates the plate to 1901 to 1906. Philip Rosenthal & Co later became Rosenthal, and that pottery is still in production. The plate features a design of thistle flowers, and has a detailed gilt trimmed rim.

The plate is 23 cms (9 inches) in diameter excluding the handles, 25 cm (10 inches) wide including the handles, and weighs 435 grams before packaging.

The plate has no chips, cracks or crazing, and no visible surface wear. It appears unused, which is unusual for an antique piece.

My packaging is always careful, and I use a mix of recycled and new materials, so your order should arrive with you in the same condition it leaves me. Orders placed before 14:00 GMT will be despatched the same (or at weekends the next) working day.
