This original J.W. Benson presentation box features a blue silk-lined lid printed in gilt with the retailer's name and royal warrant emblems above "Ludgate Hill, London". J.W. Benson was one of London's leading watchmakers and jewellers during the Victorian and Edwardian periods, holding Royal Warrants and supplying jewellery, watches and presentation pieces.

The box is fitted with a blue velvet interior, likely intended for a brooch, pendant or similar item of jewellery. The lid opens and closes correctly. There is general age-related wear to the exterior covering, light wear to the gilt interior print and some lint and wear to the velvet lining consistent with age and use.
