Antique Japanese Meiji Butterfly and Flowers Cloisonne Bowl with Lid

Item Details

A Japanese Meiji period cloisonné enamel lidded bowl raised on three feet. The body and cover are decorated with colourful butterflies amongst flowering foliage, executed in vibrant enamel colours against a dark ground. The bowl is fitted with a matching domed lid and may be described as a small covered vessel or ginger jar form.

The piece is in good condition for its age, with visible signs of age and use. There is a small ding to the underside near one of the feet. General surface wear is present consistent with age. It would benefit from a light clean. Please study the photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
