Antique Silver Plated Pounce Pot
Item Details
This antique silver-plated pounce pot is modelled in a classical baluster form with bold spiral fluting to the body, standing on a square stepped base. The removable pierced cover is surmounted by a turned finial and was designed to dispense fine sand or pounce onto freshly written ink to aid drying. Such pieces were commonly found on writing desks during the 18th and 19th centuries and served both practical and decorative purposes.
The pounce pot remains in very good antique condition with visible signs of age and use. There are light dents, surface scratches and general wear consistent with age. No repairs or significant damage have been observed. The piece would benefit from a polish if desired, although it displays well with its current patina.
Returns are handled in line with eBay policy and the returns setting on this listing.
