Item Description

Rare Antique Miniature Black Metal Frozen Charlotte Penny Doll with Tiny Blue Crib

An exceptionally small and unusual antique Frozen Charlotte style penny doll accompanied by its miniature blue metal crib. Measuring approximately 1 inch, this tiny figure is a fascinating survivor from the world of early miniature toys and possesses considerably more visual presence than its size would suggest.

The doll is constructed from metal and finished in black, with a rigid molded body, defined facial features, arms and legs. The figure has the distinctive compact form associated with miniature Frozen Charlotte and penny dolls while offering a much less commonly encountered metal construction.

Scattered areas of paint loss reveal the underlying metal beneath the black finish and contribute to the unmistakable antique character of the piece. The molded facial and body details remain readily visible despite its extremely small scale.

The accompanying crib is equally appealing. Constructed from metal and finished in deep blue, it features raised corner posts, defined side rails and decorative openwork detailing at the ends. The approximately 1-inch doll fits directly within the bed, creating a complete miniature presentation rather than simply a loose figure.

The combination is particularly desirable because the tiny furniture gives the doll context and creates an engaging miniature scene. Antique penny dolls are frequently encountered individually, while examples surviving together with appropriately scaled furniture can be much more visually compelling to collectors.

Condition

The doll displays substantial surviving black finish with scattered paint loss and exposed metal consistent with its antique age. Its molded facial features, torso, arms and legs remain clearly defined.

The blue metal crib displays scattered finish loss and patina while preserving its complete miniature form, raised posts and decorative end panels. The doll and crib display beautifully together and form a distinctive antique miniature ensemble.

At approximately 1 inch, this is an unusually diminutive collector piece. The black metal figure, miniature blue crib and highly specialized scale give it strong appeal for collectors of Frozen Charlotte dolls, penny toys, antique miniatures and early dollhouse furnishings.

A charming and increasingly difficult-to-find miniature pairing with considerably more collector interest than a loose penny doll alone.
