First published as a set of limited edition prints in 1972. A reviewer described this book as: 'a unique opportunity to understand the ideas and methods of one of the most influential artists and theorists of the twentieth century'. Albers studied and taught at the Bauhaus in Weimar Germany. After he fled to America in 1933, a reviewer states that 'he went on to influence generations of artists including Rothko, Newman and Rauschenberg... and all the elements of Albers's thinking and experience of colour and geometrical relationships are embodied in Formulation : Articulation'. Statements by Albers about the images are provided on two fold-out sections and the text by T. G. Rosenthal sets the volume within the context of Albers' life and work.
