I’m reluctantly selling my manual Porsche Boxster 986 2.5, 1997 with 79k Miles and 12 months MOT and the desirable wingback seats and no rust.

The 2.5 is widely considered the most pure analog driving experience out of the 986s and is more reliable with a dual row IMS bearing compared to the single row used in the later models.

I’ve been fixing this car up and was looking forward to driving it and enjoying it during summer but, as usual with project cars, it has taken quite a bit longer than planned and we are having a baby soon so the sensible thing is to sell it (apparently).

I bought it from a Porsche mechanic who started fixing it up and put in a new fuel pump and roof but in the end didn’t have time to go any further.

It’s got:
New tyres
New brakes
New shocks all round
New springs and top mounts front
Painted callipers
Refurbed wheels
New drop links
New spark plugs
New coil packs
Oil changed less than 40 miles ago
Fresh coolant
No rust
Wingback seats - repaired and not perfect but look great
Repainted interior leather to à more factory fresh Matt black
Roof works great
All brakes lines replaced with stainless steel ones
Racing braided stainless brake hoses
2 keys (1 only opens the car but can’t start it)

Bad bits:
The paint is a solid 5/10. I started sanding and polishing it but got a noise complaint so have had to stop. It’s got 4 coats of clear so a good bit more sanding and polishing and it will look amazing. There are currently lots of Matt areas, runs, fish eyes and lots of scratches from sanding. Please check the photos carefully and I’m happy to send more if you’d like.

There is a misfire on cylinder 1.

There’s currently no radio.

The car currently doesn’t lock. When you press the key It double beeps and won’t lock and randomly does this too.

The interior has been refreshed in Matt black which looks much fresher and cleaner. The seats have been repaired in places and the door cards are the same. It’s not perfect but looks very tidy

That is every nut and bolt on the car. Even with the misfire, this car is ridiculously fun and the RWD is something you have to try to fully appreciate how much difference it makes to FWD.
Any questions or you’d like more photos, please shoot me a message. Otherwise good luck with the auction and I’ll see you soon :)

The car has ac but needs refilling, no radio currently and no service history but I have video proof of all my work
