Original vintage Soviet playing card deck featuring artwork based on traditional Russian lubok prints, illustrated by Viktor Sveshnikov. The original packaging identifies the set as “Playing Cards, based on Russian lubok pictures, drawn by Viktor Sveshnikov.”

This is a 36-card deck produced by the Leningrad Color Printing Combine of Soyuzpolygraphprom. The packaging is marked Art. 2618 and OST 29.25-82, with a visible production date marking of 11-88, indicating November 1988.

The cards feature beautifully detailed historical and folk-art inspired illustrations, including colorful figures, costumes, scenes and decorative compositions characteristic of the Russian lubok tradition. The distinctive artwork gives this deck much more appeal than an ordinary vintage playing-card set and makes it an interesting piece of Soviet-era paper memorabilia.
