Wonderful antique copper pan or shallow basin with an exceptionally rich, untouched patina.
Constructed of copper with an old tinned interior and two ornate cast brass side handles secured with copper rivets. The hand-worked body has a slightly irregular rim and surface, giving it loads of primitive Old World character.
The exterior displays layers of dark oxidation over warm exposed copper, while the worn interior tinning reveals copper beneath. Small areas of green verdigris are also present.
The underside shows numerous rounded hammer/forming marks / pits.
No maker's mark found. Mostly likely French in origin.
Approximate measurements:
11" diameter
3" high
Handles extend beyond the 11" body
Due to the age, worn lining and oxidation, this piece is being sold as decorative/collectible antique copper rather than for food preparation.
Beautiful for a French country, European farmhouse, primitive kitchen or antique copper collection.
