He is arrested for the crime and tells the sheriff how Rickett's scam led to the murder of the elder Lashes and how Bat escaped with his sister and his fiancee, hiding them in a convent. Bat escapes from jail and goes to find Melissa and Bitsy but they tell him they are taking vows to become nuns and intend to stay at the convent.
The cover features artwork by Nick Cardy (pencils and inks) of Bat Lash at his parents gravesite promising to avenge their deaths .
