A lovely matching set of six vintage Mayell silver-plated napkin rings, made in England and decorated with an ornate floral and scrolling foliate design.
Each ring has a polished silver-plated exterior with a wide decorative band of raised scroll and leaf motifs, finished with gently flared edges. The interiors have a fine vertically ribbed finish.
The rims are clearly stamped “MAYELL EP ON ZINC” and “MADE IN ENGLAND”. This identifies the pieces as English Mayell tableware made from a zinc base with an electroplated silver-coloured finish; they are silver plated rather than solid silver.
No pattern name or number is visible on the rings. Based on the Mayell EP-on-zinc marking, construction and decorative style, the set is believed to date from the post-war vintage period, most likely around the 1960s–1980s. This dating is approximate rather than a precise factory date.
A complete set of six makes these particularly useful for a dining table, Christmas or special-occasion place settings, while the traditional scroll decoration also works well with vintage and classic tableware.
