Pair of Victorian Solid Silver Candlesticks or Spill Vases M J Jessop 1895
Item Details
A matching pair of rare late Victorian sterling silver candlesticks. I also believe these were used as spill vases or posy vases. Each has a deep floriform candle socket above a tapered stem decorated with embossed foliate scrollwork and vertical fluting. The shaped loaded bases feature raised shells, acanthus leaves and scrolling ornament in the Rococo Revival style.
Both have surface wear, scratches, small marks and minor distortion around the floriform sockets. Tarnishing and dark residue are present inside. The exposed filling beneath the bases has wear, staining and cracking. The hallmarks remain legible, with some rubbing to the maker’s marks.
Returns are handled in line with eBay policy and the returns setting on this listing.
