Who are Jamie's Computers?

The Society of St James (SSJ), trading as Jamie's Computers, is a UK registered charity. SSJ is a Southampton-based homelessness charity, providing a range of supported living services in Southampton, Portsmouth and across Hampshire. We provide a wide range of support to people from all walks of life experiencing homelessness, problematic alcohol or substance use and mental health problems.

Set up by SSJ in 2002, Jamies helps recycle all kinds of IT and computer equipment, both professionally and ethically. We're located in Southampton. 70% of donated equipment is reused, recycled and upcycled to Microsoft standards. The rest is broken down into components and recycled, meaning that 0% of material goes to landfill. We also provide volunteering opportunities to give individuals the chance to learn practical skills in a real business environment.

Payment Jamie's computers only accepts payments through eBay for items purchased on eBay. Items sold through auction must be paid for within 30 days. After 30 days the item is then offered to the next highest bidder.
Shipping Jamie's Computers will only accept orders with a UK mainland shipping address. We aim to ship all items within 3 working days of payment using DHL, Royal Mail or FedEx. We do not ship items over the weekends. Items may be collected from our storefront on weekdays between 09:00 and 16:00 by arrangement. Please ensure you bring your eBay collection code with you.
VAT Invoices
Jamie's Computers is the trading arm of The Society of St James, a registered charity. Under UK tax law, charities are entitled to a specific VAT relief known as "zero-rating" on the sale of donated goods. Because the items we sell were donated to us for the purpose of fundraising, the VAT rate applied to these sales is 0%. Since no VAT is actually charged on the transaction, we cannot provide an invoice showing a standard 20% VAT amount. This government relief is designed to ensure that 100% of your purchase price goes directly toward supporting our mission rather than being diverted to tax.
Returns

All returns must be conducted via eBay, we cannot organise returns via email or any other channel.
- Under the
Consumer Rights Act 2015 an online buyer has the right to return an item within 14 days of receiving the item. Under these conditions please initiate a return through eBay, using the "I just don't like it" option. The buyer will pay postage for this return and eBay will automatically refund the buyer once the item arrives back with us.
-
Under the eBay Money Back Guarantee, a buyer has 30 calendar days from the actual or last estimated delivery date to initiate a "Significantly Not As Described" (SNAD) return. Under these conditions please select the appropriate option during the returns process, either "Item arrived damaged",  "Item doesn't match description/photos" or "Wrong item sent". We will pay the postage for this return and eBay will refund the buyer once the item arrives back with us.
Under both sets of conditions, please ensure the item arrives back with us in the same condition we shipped it. If the item is not in the same condition we must open a case against the buyer for the return.
