There are videos driving the car on You Tube, see photo for videos.

I'm one of few privileged people to look after this lovely time machine. My Daughter and Mrs drive and care for it too, so heavy nostalgia, and it be nice to someday look after it again.

It's frequently used on town/farm errands and roadtrips, bopping around the countryside. Be prepared for conversations and offers, sometimes the attention overwhelms.

This car gets regular healthy maintenance and is well-spoilt. It's kept busy despite the weather, and my preferred driving style is an exciting safari-style cab-off cruise.

Yet with cab on or off, the car is always covered when parked with soft bedsheets and strapped down 610gsm Seyntex tarpaulin.

The 2.6 engine is a rare and throaty sound these days. The lovely-smooth powertrain delivers surprising torque and spirited acceleration for something with house-brick aerodynamics.

Consumption is 18mpg no matter what you do. But it sounds and drives amazing. Tyres are Avon Rangemasters new...ish.

Viscous fan keeps things cool and quiet, with good quality G4 coolant.

Valve inlet/outlet rockers and tappets recently adjusted, new exhaust and Viper resin ignition coil and Accuspark electronic points, new Lucas dizzy, cap and i6 rotor, new NGK BP6ES plugs and new 8mm leads.

The carburettor is standard 175CD Zenith and is set to lean optimum. New jets, needles, throttle piston, diaphragm, spindle seals.

I use 99 octane 5% unleaded but 95 works just fine. I add 50ml Dipetane to each fuel tank full 55 litres. 5.7 ltrs engine oil capacity is 20W/40 + 900ml Lucas Stop-Leak premixed + 300ml LiquiMoly MoS2 molybdenum disulphide.

Hubs are filled with one-shot and Lucas hub greaseoil. Steering relay box, diffs, gearbox, Fairey o/d, transfer all filled with EP90 and Lucas Stop-Leak premixed with LiquiMoly MoS2 molybdenum disulphide.

New rare axle straps. All springs are well oiled and protected, the brake drums, liners, cylinders, master, lines are new.

Steering slack was adjusted up but the steering coupler u-joint will want replacement someday.

The diff breathers are original brass n.r.v. valves cleaned restored and grease taped for protection.

On the M1 you can pass lorries and cars and it will overtake at 70mph, but optimum experience for your health and wellbeing is 55mph, with/without overdrive, it's not fussy.

In terrain the vehicle selects and drives high and low range 4WD no problem. We don't wade this vehicle yet it regularly gets dirty on weekend exploits.

Vehicles tracks well at all speeds and though the steering wants regular input the car drives straight and true with even tyre wear and responsive, balanced brake performance.

The heater, fan, wipers, lights, hooter, original bonnet catch works fine. Doors lock, I've added a back seat which can be removed, my daughter+friends like it but I don't. The cab and door windows are fine, slide and lock, no damage, cab is fabric-lined and topped with a super-rare tropical roof.

This car's history is traced. It was bought for a plumbing business in London.

Car was located on a farm in Devon from where I took it over and restored some of my own work on engine and subframes, chassis, and cab on location in Charnwood.

Sold as seen on sight. Taxed, insured, ready to drive away.

Experience the Land Rover utilitarian, overlanding, adventure lifestyle, a reminder that these cars are also designed not only for work, but also fun and unforgettable excitement.
