VCR cycles is delighted to bring to the market this very well preserved and very original 1993 Cannondale R800 2.8 Aluminium 54cm Gents Road bike.

A pre Caad frame model but still has the same beautiful smooth welds and handbuilt in USA.

Kitted out with a full Shimano 105 1055 16 speed groupset.

As you can see from the photos the bike has had very little use. Even the hoods on the levers still have the seam on them. Theres no heel rub wear on the cranks arms and the whole bike is in very good condition.

The Continental Sport 1000 700x28c tyres are excellent with no age related cracking.

Looking at the 1993 Cannondale catalogue photo and spec list it appears to be all original apart from the stem and possibly the handlebars.

The bike has been fitted with a converter so you can fit 1 1/8” clamp stems rather than a quill tyres giving you a lot more choice and you won’t have to strip one side of the bars down to swap the stem out.

The frame has no oxidation bubbles anywhere which is very unusual for one of these. There’s no dents or damage anywhere either. It’s got a couple of chips that have been touched in with a good match paint on the top tube probably from being stored against other bikes but this has kept the moisture out and prevented any bubbling .

The bike rides great, everything works as it should. Theres no play in any of the bearings, the wheels both roll straight, true and smooth.

A really nice original example that I’m sure will appeal to the enthusiasts of these beautiful handbuilt bikes from the masters of aluminium!
