This set comes from the American Georg Jensen operation run by Frederik Lunning in New York during and after WWII, when Danish imports were cut off. The “L.P.” mark identifies Alphonse La Paglia, the Italian-American silversmith whose handwrought Jensen USA designs are highly collectible in their own right and increasingly hard to find — especially as a matched pair.

Classic Danish modern styling on both pieces: stepped Art Deco collars, slender reeded stems, and openwork terminals with graduated silver beads and a sculpted blossom bud. The spoon has a large, deep oval bowl; the fork has three broad, elegantly splayed tines.
