"How our Navy Trains it's Divers". A look back at how sailors were trained to perform underwater work at the Deep Sea Diving School in Washington Navy Yard. Working out in a rescue chamber, the men were taught to use pneumatic tools, torches and welders at terrific pressures. Pictures of a diver in full dress being lowered into one of the high-pressure tanks, photos of a diver wearing a light diving dress called "Zoot suit" and rubber-flanged face mask, and another of 16-pound weighted shoes worn to offset buoyancy.
