Description
This striking 52cm vintage outdoor pillar lantern beautifully captures classical gothic architecture and old-world curb appeal. Solidly constructed with a heavy cast metal upper housing and matching matte black finish, the lantern features a tapered 4-sided geometric frame lined with textured frosted glass window panes that create a soft, welcoming glow while hiding the bulb from direct view.
The bottom base features a highly unique, ornamental wrought iron under-bracket built from hand-twisted metal scrolls. This multi-purpose base structure allows the lantern to sit perfectly as a stately pillar gatepost light, or be modified for corner wall mounting. It comes pre-wired with a professional insulated entry cable feeding through the hollow under-chassis, making it an excellent candidate to accent entryways, courtyard walls, or garden path pillars.

Item History

Dating back to the mid-to-late 20th century, these heavy scroll-bracketed lanterns were highly popular choices for adding historical Tudor and Victorian aesthetic styling to traditional brick entry gates and suburban carriage driveways. Designed to withstand wind and rain while offering structural longevity that modern plastic fixtures cannot replicate, this piece has been carefully salvaged and kept intact with its historical wrought base assembly.
