Original antique 11" x 14" color-tinted silent-film lobby card from Officer 666, released by Goldwyn Pictures in 1920.
This unusually dramatic outdoor scene shows a man crouching and hiding among dense shrubbery while several uniformed police officers gather behind the bushes. The composition has considerably more action and suspense than the typical posed interior lobby-card scene.
The original Goldwyn Pictures name and lion emblem remain visible at the lower right. The photograph retains its early promotional color tinting, including warm golden-yellow, reddish and blue-green tones.
Officer 666 was a five-reel silent comedy directed by Harry Beaumont, starring Tom Moore and adapted from the popular stage play by Augustin MacHugh. The 1920 production is presently considered a lost silent feature.
Condition: Poor to Fair antique condition. There is substantial paper loss along the lower-left edge and lower-right border, with additional edge and corner losses, tears, creases, punctures, scratches, abrasions, staining, fading and scattered photographic surface wear. A small puncture is present within the lower-right portion of the image. The reverse has heavy age toning, staining, surface residue, abrasions and several punctures. Despite the condition problems, most of the dramatic scene and the Goldwyn Pictures logo remain present and displayable.
