This listing includes a brand-new AudioControl A1500.1
Altitude Series High-Current Monoblock Subwoofer Amplifier, factory sealed and
ready for installation.
The A1500.1 is designed to deliver powerful, clean, and
controlled bass in premium automotive audio systems. It produces 600 watts RMS
at 4 ohms, 1200 watts RMS at 2 ohms, 1500 watts RMS at 1.33 ohms, and more than
1500 watts RMS at 1 ohm.
Designed for both factory and aftermarket radio integration,
the amplifier includes RCA line-level inputs and AudioControl’s LC Direct
speaker-level input. The LC Direct input accepts speaker-level signals up to 20
volts from compatible non-amplified factory radios. Factory amplified systems
may require a compatible active line output converter or integration processor.
The A1500.1 also includes selectable Remote, GTO, and Audio
Signal Sense turn-on modes. This allows the amplifier to activate through a
traditional remote wire, by detecting the factory radio turning on, or by
detecting an incoming audio signal.
Its integrated controls include a variable Linkwitz-Riley
low-pass crossover, variable subsonic filter, gain control with MAX indicator,
and ParaBASS low-frequency contouring. ParaBASS allows the installer to select
a center frequency between 40 Hz and 80 Hz and apply up to 10 dB of boost for
more precise bass tuning.
Valet Mode can limit maximum amplifier output to
approximately 25 percent when connected to an optional external switch. An
optional AudioControl ACR-1 wired remote level control can also be added for
convenient subwoofer level adjustment from the front of the vehicle.

Spike Mode Configuration
The A1500.1 can power three 4-ohm single-voice-coil
subwoofers wired in parallel for a final impedance of approximately 1.33 ohms.
This configuration allows the amplifier to produce its rated 1500-watt output. AudioControl recommends using at least 12-gauge speaker wire
for this configuration. Final impedance, enclosure design, and subwoofer power
handling must be verified before installation.
Valet Mode
Valet Mode can be activated through an optional on/off
switch connected between the amplifier’s Valet terminal and chassis ground.
When activated, the amplifier limits maximum output to approximately 25%. The external switch and wiring are not included.
The optional AudioControl ACR-1 connects to the amplifier’s
dedicated remote-control port and allows subwoofer output to be adjusted from
the front of the vehicle. The ACR-1 is sold separately and is not included with this listing.
Performance Specifications
- Signal-to-noise ratio: 103 dBA
- Total harmonic distortion plus noise: Less than 0.11 percent
- Speaker-level input maximum: 20 volts
- Line-level input maximum: 6 volts
- Operating compatibility: Up to 17 volts

Power and Fuse Requirements
For speaker loads above 2 ohms:
- Minimum power and ground wire: 4 AWG OFC
- Recommended external fuse: 150 amps
For speaker loads below 2 ohms:
- Minimum power and ground wire: 1/0 AWG OFC
- Recommended external fuse: 200 amps
An adapter may be required when using oversized 1/0-gauge
wire. Use high-quality oxygen-free copper wiring for all power and
ground connections. The external fuse must be installed on the positive power
wire near the battery.
Dimensions and Weight
- Width: 12.5 inches
- Depth: 6.7 inches
- Height: 2.1 inches
- Weight: 7.15 pounds
Important Installation Notes
- Professional installation is strongly recommended.
- Disconnect the vehicle battery before making electrical
connections. Always connect the amplifier’s ground terminal before connecting
the positive power wire, and never remove the ground while the positive power
wire remains connected.
- Mount the amplifier securely in a dry, well-ventilated
location. Do not block the heatsink fins or install the amplifier near heat,
moisture, fuel lines, brake lines, or other vehicle systems.
- The amplifier is designed for a minimum 1-ohm load. Do not
connect a speaker load below 1 ohm.
- The gain control is not a volume control and must be
adjusted to match the source signal. The MAX indicator should illuminate only
briefly during musical peaks.
- For sealed enclosures, the subsonic filter can normally be
set to its lowest position. For vented enclosures, AudioControl recommends
setting it approximately one-half octave below the enclosure tuning frequency.
- The ACR-1 remote, Valet Mode switch, wiring kit, fuse
holder, line output converter, subwoofers, and other installation accessories
shown or referenced are sold separately.
