A fascinating original archive relating to one officer of the BTP - PC 164 Hopkinson.

The lot comprises 10 original police pocket notebooks dating from 1956 to 1972. The earliest relates to the Sheffield area (on duty at Victoria to learn beats...) with the later volumes relating to the officer's subsequent time in and around Bradford and surrounding areas. Each lasts some 6 months or so.

The notebooks contain hand-written day to day entries concerning police duties vis the railways, incidents, enquiries and railway related matters. Also included are 3 witness statements, an arrest report (drunk guard !) and other related ephemera.

All ten belonged to PC Hopkinson and chart his career. The record is a coherent one over 16 years, although not complete.

Condition is generally good for their age and use, although there is expected handling wear, marking and aging throughout. Please study the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.

The contents have not been fully researched and may include refs to named individuals, incidents, railway locations and local police activity.

A highly unusual archive with considerable interest to collectors and researchers of the BTP, railway history, SHeffield and Bradford local history and post war policing.

Being sold as a coherent lot.
