***PULLED FROM EDUCATION LAPTOPS***

****PLEASE NOTE: KNOWN ISSUE -

These SSDs are OEM SK hynix 256GB M.2 NVMe drives pulled from working public‑education laptops. They were tested working before shipment.

Due to firmware and USB bridge quirks, these particular SSDs may not be compatible with some external M.2 NVMe USB enclosures, especially under Windows 11. In some setups they may appear as “Unknown / Not Initialized” or cause disk tools to behave unexpectedly, even though the drive itself is not defective.[reddit +2]

For best results, we recommend installing the SSD in an internal NVMe‑capable M.2 slot (desktop or laptop) to prepare and use the drive. It may still need to be initialized (MBR/GPT), partitioned, and formatted before it is ready for use.[microchip +1]

If the drive does not work correctly in your external enclosure, this does not necessarily mean the SSD is bad; it may be a compatibility issue between the enclosure, host system, and this OEM SK hynix drive model.
