Vintage Horsman Baby Buttercup doll from the early 1930s, featuring a composition head, composition limbs, and cloth body. Marked HCC on the back of the head, confirming authentic Horsman Company production. She has molded hair, tin sleep eyes, and the classic Buttercup baby face. She is wearing what appears to be her original 1930s ivory cotton dress and matching slip, made from slightly sheer batiste/lawn fabric with delicate lace trim and tiny embroidered details. The slip is made from the same material and also trimmed with lace, consistent with early Horsman construction. Dress closes with two metal snaps, another hallmark of original period clothing. There is a small spot on back of her dress and a small darker area on her hem of slip. Please see pictures. This doll shows typical 1930s composition wear and is offered for restoration or display.
Condition notes:
Composition loss to right fingertips
Composition wear on toes of both feet, heel and crack behind one knee
Cloudy sleep eyes (they still open/close)
Crack near bottom lip
Paint rubbing to molded hair and face
Cloth body intact with age‑appropriate wear
Sold as found, no cleaning or restoration attempted
A wonderful early Horsman Baby Buttercup for collectors who appreciate original 1930s dolls or enjoy restoration projects.
