Having owned this XC90 for over 11 years, this is genuinely a car I’ll be sorry to see go. It is 

I bought it in 2015 from a Volvo main dealer as a Volvo Selekt Approved Used vehicle and it has been an outstanding family car ever since. We mainly used it for long motorway journeys and family holidays, where it really comes into its own. My son was 10 when I bought it because I wanted the safest place possible for my family to travel. He’s now 21, our needs have changed and it’s simply time for someone else to enjoy it.

This is the sought-after D5 five-cylinder diesel with the rare 6-speed manual gearbox and permanent AWD. The manual is increasingly hard to find and makes for a rewarding, dependable and economical drive.

Maintenance

This has never been a car where maintenance has been delayed or corners cut. During my ownership it has benefited from significant preventative maintenance, including:

• Timing belt replaced at 90,000 miles using genuine Volvo parts
• New AWD actuator
• New AWD angle box 
• Engine mounts replaced
• Swirl flaps replaced
• Recent front brake discs and pads
• Brake fluid recently changed
• Handbrake upgrade

It is fitted with matching Bridgestone tyres all round.

Extras

• Genuine Volvo side steps
• Genuine Volvo front driving lamp kit (very rare in the UK – sourced specially from Sweden)
• Tow bar with twin electrics, used only for carrying the family bike rack and never for heavy towing

Everything works exactly as it should.

As expected for the age, there is some wear  but overall the car presents very well and has been well cared for.

Driving

Anyone who knows these cars will know why they have such a loyal following. The five-cylinder D5 engine is smooth, strong and capable of very high mileages when maintained properly. It cruises effortlessly on the motorway, offers a commanding driving position and has consistently returned 34 mpg or better in my ownership.

It remains one of the most comfortable and reassuring family cars I’ve owned better at most things in the real world than equivalent Range Rovers or Defenders I've had..

This isn’t the cheapest XC90 on the market, but nor the most expensive of this model as prices of good ones seem to have risen. It reflects a vehicle with an exceptional maintenance record, sensible ownership and many thousands of miles of dependable service still ahead of it. 

If you’re looking for a genuine, well-maintained XC90 rather than a neglected example with an incomplete history, I think you’ll struggle to find a better one at this price
