Vesuvianite is a mineral species of the silicate group, subgroup of sorosilicates, formed of double silicate of alumina and calcium of formula Ca10(Mg,Fe)2Al4(SiO4)5(Si2O7)2(OH,F)4 with traces: Fe;Be;B;F;Cu;Li;Na;K;Mn;Ti;Cr;Zn;H2O.
It constitutes a group (vesuvianite group) with manganvesuvianite, fluorvesuvianite and wiluite.
